Dan Medlen
Dan Medlen

Daniel brings 15 years of accountancy and tax experience to the team, spanning both the UK and Gibraltar. A qualified ACA and member of the ICAEW, he has built a career rooted in a genuine curiosity for how businesses operate and a passion for helping business owners understand and make the most of their finances.

As a trusted business advisor to owner managed businesses, Daniel takes a consultative approach to every client relationship — taking the time to understand each business owner’s individual goals and challenges before recommending a clear path forward. He knows that no two businesses are the same, and that the best advice is always tailored to the person receiving it.

Outside of work, Daniel is a keen sports fan and can often be found out walking with his dog, Bowen.

David Beckman
David Beckman

David didn’t choose accountancy, accountancy chose him. And with 40 years of experience behind him, it’s fair to say it was an excellent choice on accountancy’s part! A Fellow of the ICAEW and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Tax, David holds both the FCA and CTA qualifications, placing him among an elite group of professionals with deep expertise across both accountancy and taxation.

Throughout his career, David has worked predominantly with small and medium sized businesses and high net worth individuals, developing a particularly formidable reputation in all areas of personal tax, including income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, trusts, estates and SDLT, alongside VAT and corporation tax.

His technical depth is matched only by his ability to navigate some of the most complex tax challenges imaginable. He has helped families manage intricate IHT and estate matters following the loss of a loved one, successfully reduced a 20-year tax enquiry down to just six years with a favourable outcome, and untangled highly complex CGT and IHT issues, including cases involving properties gifted to children where the deceased continued to reside. These are the kinds of challenges that require not just technical brilliance, but patience, precision and genuine care for the people involved.

Outside of work, David can be found on the tennis court, tending to his garden or creating something delicious in the kitchen.

Duncan Finn
Duncan Finn

Duncan’s journey into accountancy began at college, where a business studies diploma sparked an interest in how a complete set of accounts could be produced from even the most basic of information. What followed was a remarkable 50-year career spanning both practice and industry, working across a vast range of sectors in roles right up to board level, before returning to practice and later stepping into the lecture theatre as a university lecturer in accounting and finance. It was there that he partnered with a teaching colleague who had an accountancy practice called Aspreys, and the rest, as they say, is history.

A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and ACCA qualified member of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, Duncan brings a depth of experience that is truly rare. Having worked with SMEs, family run businesses and high net worth individuals throughout his career, his specialist areas lie in financial accounts production and tax planning — both corporate and personal. That breadth of real world experience means Duncan understands not just the numbers, but the people behind them. He recently helped a client navigate the significant decision of whether to keep or sell their business, researching the financial options, tax implications and, just as importantly, the personal impact on quality of life and work-life balance. The client chose to sell, and it has worked out wonderfully.

Outside of work, Duncan is an accomplished pianist, a proud father of three grown up children (none of whom followed him into accountancy, much to his amusement!) and a very busy grandfather to one grandson.

Finn Weeks

Currently studying towards his AAT qualification, he works with a varied client base spanning sole traders, limited companies and partnerships, supporting them with day-to-day accounting, VAT returns, pre year-end reviews and P11Ds.

Finn takes pride in helping clients keep their financial records accurate and organised, ensuring nothing slips through the net. Outside of work, you’ll find him in the gym, on the football pitch or planning his next trip abroad.

Zehra Stuart Asprey's UK
Zehra Stewart

Zehra chose a career in accountancy because it perfectly matched both her strengths and her desire to make a real difference, helping people across all industries achieve their financial goals whilst building genuine, lasting relationships with clients. Holding her AAT qualification and currently studying towards her ACA, she brings four years of hands-on experience to the team, with a strong background in the construction industry.

Involved across VAT, CIS and tax planning, Zehra takes a practical and thorough approach to client work. She recently identified and corrected errors in a new client’s previously filed tax return, resulting in a meaningful tax saving, a great example of the real world impact she strives to have. She is also passionate about helping clients embrace technology, regularly supporting businesses in getting the most out of Xero and its automations to save time and keep the focus where it belongs, on running their business.

Outside of work, Zehra has a serious case of wanderlust, you’ll find her planning her next adventure holiday, hitting the hiking trails or enjoying long walks with a dog in tow.

Luca Pojoranu on the Asprey's UK Accountants Leadership Team
Luca Pojoranu

Luca joined the firm with a passion for numbers and problem solving, and has quickly built a strong foundation in accountancy over the past two and a half years. Currently working towards his Level 4 AAT qualification, having already achieved Levels 2 and 3, he is a member of the AAT professional body and continues to develop his expertise with real enthusiasm.

Working across a diverse range of industries including construction, finance, commercial and medical, Luca has developed a particular specialism in VAT. He is also well versed in CIS, having recently guided a client through the process of registering as a CIS subcontractor after identifying that incorrect deduction rates were being applied, saving the client money and ensuring full compliance going forward.

Outside of work, Luca keeps busy with a varied mix of interests, hitting the gym, volunteering with local youth groups and painting miniature models.

Michelle McGovern
Michelle McGovern

Michelle’s love of maths and numbers was the natural foundation for a career that has spanned an impressive 40 years in accountancy. ACA qualified, she has built an extraordinarily diverse portfolio of clients over that time, from manufacturing and supply companies, sheet metal works and aircraft part manufacturers to Michelin star restaurants, golf clubs, fish and shellfish providers and even a nanny college. It’s safe to say there are very few industries Michelle hasn’t encountered!

With such a breadth of experience behind her, Michelle’s specialist areas cover statutory accounts preparation, business and personal tax planning and preparation, VAT, and financial data analysis, with a strong eye for the detail that makes a real difference to clients’ bottom lines. She is also experienced in budgeting and forecasting, bringing a well-rounded commercial perspective to everything she does. One example of her practical, solutions-focused approach saw her help a growing business identify its most profitable products by advising on the use of tracking categories — giving the client the clarity and insight they needed to make confident, informed decisions about the direction of their business.

Outside of work, Michelle is a keen table tennis player, enjoys getting her hands dirty in the garden, loves exploring new destinations on holiday, and is always up for a great show.

Angela Bennett
Angela Bennett

Angela’s path into accountancy was a natural one — a maths degree at university led her towards a training contract surrounded by like-minded graduates, and a fulfilling career was born. ACA qualified and a proud member of the ICAEW, Angela began her career straight from university in 1988, spending her early years in audit before moving into the head offices of major PLCs, including Trafalgar House and Bunzl. That grounding in both practice and large-scale commercial environments gave her a well-rounded perspective that she continues to draw upon every day.

After taking a well-earned break, Angela joined David Beckman & Co in January 2010 and has been a cornerstone of the team ever since. As a manager, she looks after a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from turnovers of £50k all the way up to £15 million, covering company accounts, self-assessments, VAT, payroll and tax planning advice. Her broad experience means she is equally comfortable supporting a small, growing business as she is navigating the complexities of a much larger operation, always bringing the same level of care, expertise and attention to detail to every client she works with.

Outside of work, Angela keeps life full and active, you’ll find her on the netball court, in a dance class, on the pilates mat, or planning her next travel adventure.

Outside of work, you’ll find Claire on the netball court, planning her next adventure, or out on a long walk or hike. Most of all though, life is kept wonderfully busy by her two children, who make sure there’s never a dull moment!
